Abstract : The development of intra-product specialization and trade in a global economy has changed the international specialization pat tern dramatically , and many developing countries took the opportunity to “embed in” the global”industrial chain” of advanced technology industry and it’s international competition. However , the traditional “total export statistical method” may over-evaluate t he specialization status of developing countries in t he new international specialization pat tern , for this method does not consider the imported intermediate value of exported goods. This may lead to t he so-called “statistical illusion”. By reviewing related research , and using a refined “non-competitive input-output model”, we developed a new instrument : the “added value-productivity index”. This index examines t he international specialization status of a country’s advanced technology industry , or the impetus of per unit exported advanced technology product on domestic economic growth and employment . This index prevent s “statistical illusion” and facilitates transnational comparative analysis , revealing t he true international specialization stat us of a country’s advanced technology industry.
Key words : advanced technology industry ; international specialization ; non-competitive input-output model
