The Center for research in Regional Economic Opening and Development  （REOD）was founded by Zhejiang University. The main purpose of its foundation is  to focus on regional economic opening and development, which is a major  theoretical and practical issue of Zhejiang Province and China’s economic and  social development. Research mainly covers three areas: studies on the dynamic  comparative advantage and entrepreneurship, studies on the foreign trade and the  upgrading of industrial strcture, studies on the international trade and  investment in agriculture, studies on the trade development and financial  support .

 

    Center relying on a number of advantage subjects of Zhejiang University  College of Economics, including second level subject doctoral programs in  international trade, world economics, industrial economics, first level subject  doctoral programs in theoretical economics, and other 3 related key subjects in  province level, combined multidisciplinary scientific research efforts. Now it  has been the formation of a reasonable age structure, knowledge well-grounded,  innovative academic team, having special or part-time research staff of 40  people, including 21 doctoral tutors, 21 professors, and 25 doctors. In recent  years we have received a number of nation-wide influential academic  achievements. There are more than 20 national fund projects, and more than 10  provincial and ministerial-level outstanding achievement award. The center is  increasingly becoming high-level academic research platform. The four research  directions and research contents the center condensed are major cutting-edge new  topics which urgently needed to study for Zhejiang’ economy. Research is  expected to have significant theoretical innovation in the field of regional  open economy. It also will have far-reaching potentially significant impact and  obvious practical significance on the changes in the mode of growth, innovation  of development mode, increasing the operational efficiency and enhancing the  international competitiveness of Zhejiang’ economy in the “Twelve Five-Year”  period and the future.

 

    Director of the center is held by Professor Zhang Xiaodi. Deputy  Director is held by Professor Huang Xianhai and Professor Ma Shuzhong.
